Scaffolding for pipe access and roofing works on the side of a 2-storey in Hove

Roofing and pipe access, Third Ave. Hove, BN3

Scaffold type: Scaffolding for pipe and roof access.

Area: Third Ave, Hove, East Sussex, BN3 2PB.

Customer requirements: We were contacted by this customer to provide a quotation to supply access to the side of a two-storey property in Hove. This was to allow for repairs to the staunch pipe and access to the tiled roof. We priced this structure to include a 6-week hire period.

Difficulties and challenges we encountered: The only issue we faced was that the side of this property was a little tight for room where a dividing wall was situated. However, we managed to fit our equipment down there, and we did not have to place any standards (upright legs) in the neighbouring garden.

Work we undertook:

  • The side of the building that required scaffolding had a slight return that stepped in, so we put the framework up with a small return section that was connected to both straight runs.
  • We began by erecting the furthest section from the front of this property, where access to the whole of the staunch pipe was needed.
  • This part of the structure measured approximately 7 metres long by 5 metres tall and featured two fully boarded scaffolding lifts.
  • The working platforms on this scaffold were 5x scaffolding boards wide.
  • Double handrails and toe boards featured throughout this section.
  • The elevation that was closest to the front of the house was then erected for access to the roof, which measured approximately 8 metres long and 6 metres high.
  • This section of scaffolding featured 3 lifts, with only the top lift being a working platform.
  • The top lift was placed just below gutter level and was 4 boards wide.
  • Safety handrails and kicker boards were also installed onto this framework.
  • Fixed ladder access was provided, along with ladder gates where necessary.

Hire term: This scaffold was hired by our customer for a total of 6 weeks to ensure there was enough time for them to complete their work.
