Scaffold type: Access scaffold for rendering.
Area: 17 Payne Avenue, Hove, BN3.
Customer requirements: A scaffolding quotation was needed for a customer who was undertaking rendering works to a house in Hove. They required access to 3 sides of a 2-storey semi-detached house. The cost for the scaffolding was £1980 with 6 weeks hire, plus an additional £220 for the pavement licence fee.
Difficulties and challenges we encountered: The scaffolding was for render work and so we were unable to butt the tubes against the walls, so we crossed braced the scaffold so that no tubes touched the areas that were being rendered. We were also required to tie in the table lift at the top with a box tie around the chimney to secure this section. Access was clear to all sides of the property, but additional safety measures were taken as we were erecting part of our scaffolding on a public pathway.
Work we undertook: We firstly erected a free-standing scaffold to the front of the property for rendering work, this elevation measured approximately 6.0 metres long with 2 working lifts (5.0 metres high). We then returned the scaffolding down the side elevation which was a straight run and measured approx. 16.0m long by 2 lifts high, the side also featured a 2.4 metre table lift that was roughly 7.0 metres off the ground. This extra platform was so our customer could reach the apex on the side and we also boxed tied this lift into the chimney to increase the structures sturdiness. We also erected scaffolding to the rear of the house and that measured approx. 8 metres long.
All of the working lifts were fully boarded a total 6 scaffolding boards wide. Double handrails and toe boards were installed along the external perimeter of all lifts, and we supplied full ladder access from the ground at the back of the house.
Hire term: The scaffold was rented for a total of 6 weeks and when finished we were required to remove the scaffolding promptly to ensure the pavement licence did not expire whilst the scaffold was still standing otherwise additional fees would have charged by the council.
If you need a quote for our scaffolding services, then please fill out our online form as this will usually give us most of the details, we require to get a price back to you.
