Scaffold type: Scaffold for painting.
Area: Upper North Street, Brighton, East Sussex, BN1.
Customer requirements: The customer required a simple scaffold to the front of their property in Brighton so they could re-paint the whole exterior.
Difficulties and challenges we encountered: There were no difficulties with regards to this type of scaffold as we put these straightforward scaffolds up most days for our Brighton customers. No pavement licence was required for this job either.
Work we undertook: Our scaffolding erectors put up a basic painting scaffold structure so that painters could access all the areas they required which meant the scaffolding needed to span across the whole frontage around the bay window area of this Brighton property. We had a few obstacles in the way whereby we had to start with erecting the tube framework in the basement area. We then used shorter tubes on the stairs (to the left of the house) to create the first working platform which was 5 scaffold boards wide with protective toe boards and double handrail. This lift was situated just below the top of the ground floor window. We then built the scaffold framework up again and installed another 5 board wide working area with double handrails and foot protection. The top lift was erected midway between the second-floor window so our customer could easily reach the top half of the bay window and the top of the roof edge. We provided ladder access to each section from the basement upwards.
Hire term: Our hire period on this type of scaffold is usually for a standard 4 weeks, however the customer only required this scaffolding for 7 days.
