Scaffold type: Scaffolding for painting, decorating and chimney works.
Area: West Hill Road, Brighton, East Sussex, BN1.
Customer requirements: Our customer called us to obtain a quotation for scaffolding to be put up at the front and rear of their terraced property in the heart of Brighton for painting and decoration works. We arranged a site visit for this particular scaffold as it was not entirely clear where the scaffold needed to be erected from the images our customer had kindly sent us, and as we always prefer to err on the side of caution, we visited the property to ensure our customer got the correct price for the type of scaffold required. We priced this scaffold at £1100 and this was worked out on how long it would take our scaffolders to erect the scaffolding plus we factored in the access issues and extra time it would take for us to walk our equipment through the property for the works at the rear.
Difficulties and challenges we encountered: As with many of the terraced properties in Brighton, access to the rear with our scaffolding equipment was not going to be straight forward, and so we were required to take our materials through the customers house with extreme care. The only other minor issue we had was the small working area with which we had to manoeuvre the equipment into place when building this scaffold, but this was not anything new to our company.
Work we undertook: Once we had walked our equipment through the house our team got to work erecting the first lift of scaffold to the rear, and as you can see from the image above the working platform was created five boards wide, we then added an even smaller second lift which is usually referred to as a hop up platform, which was for the painter to access the very top of the apex. Down the side of the back of the house we erected two longer lifts so our customer could gain full access to the side and the higher sections above including a 3rd lift to reach the chimney. All working areas had double handrails, toe boards and full ladder access.
Hire term: This painter and decorator required this scaffold to be up for around 3 of the 4 weeks hire we provided within our quotation. This was a little longer than they would normally have had the scaffold up for on a smaller job like this, but unfortunately weather was not on their side.
If you need a quote for our scaffolding services, then please fill out our online form as this will usually give us most of the details, we require to get a price back to you. Although we may sometimes still need to visit your property to gain additional information. Once we have gathered all of the necessary info, we will provide you with a quote for erecting, hiring (standard 4 weeks unless negotiated otherwise) and dismantling plus any other extra options that may be needed for example, a pavement licence, debris netting, foam on the uprights etc.
When you have accepted our quote, we will then book you in on a date that is convenient for yourself. We will arrive on time and install the scaffolding ensuring the correct safety measures are put in place for example ladder access, ladder gates etc. When you have finished using the scaffold, give us a call and we will book you in for the dismantle where we will remove all materials and equipment. If you are satisfied with our service, you will have the option to leave a review for our company online if you wish too.
